TNT has established itself as an avenue for students to work in all facets of the theatre: performance, management, direction, production, and other technical and design aspects. Tisch New Theatre is committed to developing ambitious work intended to entertain, inspire, and unite the artistic efforts of the Tisch Community with the entire student body.
TNT Alumni have gone onto work in various areas (producing, management, design, and performing) on or with HAMILTON, HELLO, DOLLY!, AVENUE Q, HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD, MEAN GIRLS, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, DEAR EVAN HANSEN, THE BOOK OF MORMON, The Muny, City Center, Berkshire Theatre Festival, Manhattan Theatre Club, Broadway.com, Telsey & Co., and many more!
NEXT TO NORMAL tells the story of suburban mother Diana, who struggles to cope with her worsening mental health affecting her whole family. After she is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, she searches for a healthy family life with her depressed husband, her perfect son, and her teenage daughter who just wants to be seen.
NEXT TO NORMAL addresses mental health issues such as bipolar disorder, depression, suicide, grief, and drug abuse. The show shines a light on the effects and treatments of mental illness. It gives a musical and artistic voice to those whose stories have not yet been represented on a stage. We want to be able to reach our entire NYU community as well as the general public with the beautiful, honest message this show emits.
A donation to Tisch New Theatre would not only help guarantee the success of TNT this season and future seasons, but also give us the financial freedom for design, marketing, and most importantly, stay in our off-Broadway venue: The Soho Playhouse.
