Dear Grey Art Gallery Friends and Supporters,
Our campaign for the Art after Stonewall, 1969–1989 Exhibition Fund has come to a close, and we could not be more grateful for the support we received over the last several weeks!
Your donations have gone to:
The Grey Art Gallery team offers a sincere thank you to all who donated, and spread the word about our project.
Art after Stonewall, 1969–1989 is now open and on view in two parts, at the Grey Art Gallery and the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art. The show is on view through July 20 at the Grey, and through July 21 at the Leslie-Lohman Museum.
See you at the museum!
Sincerely,
Yilin, Allegra, and Reshma

We are BEYOND thrilled that we have already reached our initial goal of $5,000 for the Art after Stonewall Exhibition Fund! We are truly grateful for all who have made our first-ever crowdfunding campaign a success.
With a few weeks left in our campaign, we have raised our goal to $7,500. As many know, exhibitions in NYC do not come without hard costs, and our initial goal covers only part of the costs we incur from hosting our free and public opening reception, putting on free public programs, designing and installing exhibition graphics and signage, and much more! We are already gearing up for installation of the over 100 works in the exhibition, which presents its own costs and challenges.
We hope you'll continue to spread the word about our campaign, and thank you again for your support.
With gratitude,
Yilin, Allegra, and Reshma

As spring finally begins to rear its head in NYC and our beautiful Washington Square Park, we're feeling grateful and hopeful that we've now achieved more than 60% of our goal for the Art after Stonewall Exhibition Fund. With the money we've raised so far, we are one step closer to covering the cost of producing and renting space for our free public programs. Read about our planned Art after Stonewall programs on our website.
We'd like to share a note from NYU's President, Andrew Hamilton, as a token of gratitude for our donations so far:
"Like most of American society, NYU had a long way to come in its own commitment to the rights of people in the LGBTQ+ community. And in the decades since, we can point to many key moments: NYU had one of the first organizations for gay and lesbian students, called the Gay People’s Union, in the 1970s. NYU’s Medical Center was among the first in the nation to care for people with AIDS. NYU offered partner benefits before it was the law. NYU faculty and students were leaders in the fight against the Solomon Amendment. And in a joyous moment in 2013, we honored our own fearless alumna Edith Windsor (GSAS ’57) with the University’s Presidential Medal just three months before the US Supreme Court ruled in her favor in the victorious, landmark same-sex marriage case Windsor vs. United States. Today, NYU is renowned for the vibrancy of its LGBTQ+ communities and resources, and is often cited as one of the most LGBTQ+-friendly campuses in the nation. None of this would have been possible, however, without committed advocates in our own community.
Inclusivity and belonging are among NYU’s highest values, and we encourage faculty, students, and staff to uphold them as part of our shared mission. For much work remains, and we mustn’t slide into complacency. On the contrary, we need to press forward to examine our culture and to agitate in favor of progress."
-Andrew D. Hamilton, President of New York University
Everyone at the Grey is proud to be a part of this larger community that is continually working towards being an inclusive space for its students, faculty, and administrators. We are especially proud to remember NYU's history of making a positive difference for its surrounding community and for its contribution to LGBTQ liberation.
With thanks,
Yilin, Allegra, and Reshma
We are so grateful to those who have already donated to our Art after Stonewall Exhibition Fund and helped us launch the project. With over 30% of our goal met after just 2 weeks, we're thrilled—we hope to keep this great momentum going!
With your donations so far, we are nearly able to cover the cost of designing and producing two beautiful banners that appear on Washington Place and, coming soon, on Washington Square East. These massive banners use our window front space to advertise our upcoming exhibitions to not only the NYU community, but the local residents of Greenwich Village and all the visitors to Washington Square Park.
Please continue to spread the word about the Art after Stonewall Exhibition Fund, so that we can continue raising funds for our signage and graphics, public programs, and opening reception!
With gratitude,
Allegra, Yilin, and Reshma
