Giving Tuesday & Final Days to Give

November 30, 2020

Hello everyone!

From everyone at Rogue Aerospace, we hope that everyone had a lovely and safe Holiday! As of tomorrow, our Rising Violets campaign will officially close. We are very thankful for all of the support we have received, and with one day to go we have raised 27% of our initial goal!

With that being said, tomorrow (12/1) is Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is a well-established, global day of giving and unity. Individuals, non-profits, small businesses, brands, and more are joining together tomorrow to support those in our communities and inspire others to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

In this time of uncertainty, there's a fundamental truth that gives us hope - that together we can do extraordinary things. Over the past few weeks and months, the entire world has been joining together to stand up, help out, give back, and heal. Whether that's through donations to community organizations, celebrating doctors and nurses at shift changes, or reaching out to a neighbor to help with groceries, generosity has been helping the entire world get through this global pandemic - together.

Not only are we thankful for the support we have already received, but we need your help to spread the word. Please tell your friends and family why you believe in the work we are doing at NYU Aerospace and encourage them to support us too!

Our NASA competition has allowed us to do programming for local middle and high school's to promote learning for young girls and women in STEM, promoting the next generation of young women to be passionate about rocketry and STEM. Beyond that, we are making strides as NYU's first (and only) rocketry competition team, giving NYU students a space to explore the Aerospace industry through hands-on learning and experience. Your donations allow us to continue uplifting and inspiring those on and off our team.

Thank you for being a part of the NYU community, and we appreciate all of your support and help!

From all of us at Rogue Aerospace, we hope that you are healthy and safe, and thank you once again for your support.

Thank You Donors & Progress Update (11/19)

November 19, 2020

Hello everyone!

We just wanted to share a quick thank you for everyone who has donated thus far. We currently have 12 days left in our campaign, and have raised a total of $1,170 -- Which is 15% of our total goal! Given COVID-19, we understand that finances can be tight, so we greatly appreciate all of the financial support we have received to help us achieve our goals.

With two weeks left, we hope to encourage new donors to give anything they can, as no amount is too small or too generous! We have made a lot of progress due to your generosity, such as presenting a Preliminary Design Request (PDR) presentation to the team at NASA, finishing the construction of our subscale rocket, and some of the electronics components for the rocket. We’d like to provide some subteam updates to encourage old and new donors about the work we’ve been doing (and will continue to accomplish) because of our donors:

The Operations team has been hard at work designing and developing ways to keep the team, our donors, and sponsors afloat and well taken care of. We have started making a push into Agile development, in which we hope to implement in full for the Spring 2021 semester. We are also hard at work posting on social media about our progress (@rogueaerospace on Instagram!), and designing beautiful stickers, thank you cards, and other perks for our donors!

The Mechanical Engineering team has been working on doing potential major changes in the design related to the jettison of the payload and generating enough redundancy in their design. Parallel to that they will be focusing on testing and hand calculations needed for the CDR (Critical Design Review).

The Electronics/Computer Science team has received most of their parts recently and have started working on the subsystems for the lander. They’ve uploaded some example code onto our team GitHub that they’ll be able to test out as soon as possible. However, COVID-19 precautions will make it difficult for them to readily test and combine the subsystems, so they will be working towards a smooth testing and development process in order to have a working prototype by the CDR due date.

Thank you again for your support, and we will continue to be in touch with all of our donors about our progress! If you or your company would be interested in a corporate sponsorship with Rogue Aerospace, please contact us via our email, rogueaeronyc@gmail.com to receive a copy of our sponsorship packet.
