The purpose of this project is to expand the Conference on Human Capital Innovation in Technology & Analytics as well as to enhance its quality. A major goal would be to increase student involvement, including as presenters. To allow for maximum inclusion, the conference has no registration fee. As a result, many students are able to participate and learn from some of the top researchers and practitioners in rapidly growing fields.

The Conferences on Human Capital Innovation in Technology & Analytics have been organized annually since 2012 within the Department of Technology Management and Innovation at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering - Polytechnic Institute. Each year these conferences focus on a different critical issue, bringing together prominent thought leaders and experts who are at the cutting-edge of Human Capital or People Analytics. They come from industry, consulting firms, and academia to address the application of People Analytics to work-related problems. For example, this year's critical issue was "The Great Resignation: How Analytics Can Help". Last year’s critical issue was “AI in the Post-Covid Workforce" (see video below).

The previous conferences focused on topics pertaining to People Analytics that included Game-Changing Technology, Talent Management, Engagement & Performance, Diversity & Inclusion, the use of games, Career Paths, Career Matching & Tracking, the Future of Work, and the impact of AI (see Table 1).

Table 1: Annual Conferences on Human Capital Innovation in Technology & Analytics

2012: Game-Changing Technology for Human Capital Management

2013: Talent Management 2.0: HR Innovation in the Big Data Era

2014: Predicting Engagement & Performance Using Small & Big Data

2015: Driving Diversity & Inclusion with Analytics: A Key to Winning the War for Talent

2016: Using Games to Win the War for Talent in the Workplace: From Design to AI & Big Data

2017: Career Path Analytics: New Ways in Identifying & Implementing passages to Organizational Success

2018: Career Matching & Tracking Analytics: New Frontiers in Driving Talent Management

2019:  Predicting the Future of Work: The Impact of AI

2020:  AI in the Workplace: Future Directions in People Analytics

2021:  AI in the Post-Covid Workforce

The conference is a valuable opportunity for professionals, as well as students, from various disciplines to learn from and network with leading experts to understand how People Analytics can be applied to solving critical human capital-related problems. Feedback from conference participants clearly indicates that their knowledge was enhanced and that they made good contacts through networking.

Conference presenters have included faculty and graduate students from several Departments at NYU who showcased their research before a high-level audience. The goal of this project is to expand these opportunities, especially among graduate students.

There will also be an effort to increase the number of students involved in the development and organization of the conference. Students who are active in TechSHRM (formerly PolySHRM) play a major role, thereby providing them the opportunity to enhance their teamwork and leadership skills.
