Sulo: the Philippines Studies Initiative at NYU aims to strengthen and support Philippine studies across NYU through events, teaching, and support for research. A key priority is enhancing research opportunities for emerging Philippine studies scholars, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Early-stage research funds ($2,000-3,000) help students develop more substantial research projects and obtain additional funding from other sources. These funds will support research expenses such as travel, books, journals, duplication expenses, etc. Sulo has limited funds to aid students, and this will help both support additional students and provide them with more assistance.
By funding this goal, you are helping to lay the foundation for vibrant, creative, and dynamic Philippine studies.
