My name is Kody Christiansen and I am one of your SPS One Day Champions for 2022! What does One Day mean to me? To me, scholarships from the One Day initiative helped me to be able to start my associates degree program at SPS and see it through to graduation - without worrying about where a good portion of my tuition funds would come from.
Six and a half years ago, I was homeless and struggling with addiction - when I got sober, I knew I wanted to go to college and get a degree that would help pave a path for the next chapter of my life. NYU was my dream school and because of scholarships like the ones made possible through One Day, I was able to achieve my dream of going to NYU. I ended my time at NYU as the SPS Undergraduate Student Council President, in the top of my class, and with the confidence and skills that SPS gave me was able to be able to transfer to Harvard University where I am currently studying. NYU SPS pushed me to be a version of myself that I never thought possible - the best version - and it gave me the tools to succeed and to help others along the way.
