Dentistry - Program for Survivors of Torture

In 2008, NYU College of Dentistry introduced the Program for Survivors of Torture (PSOT) to provide free dental care for people who have found refuge in the United States after surviving the horrific ordeal of torture from another country and to educate dental students to deliver care to these victims.

The College currently provides dental services to more than 200 PSOT patients annually, focusing on the special physical and psychological needs of the survivors, the majority of whom have suffered dental and facial injuries, to help them regain their dignity and overcome barriers to care. Donations will allow the College to expand the program and the no-cost care it delivers to these patients.
