Rogue Aerospace is a student-led, competition-based team offering NYU students the opportunity to explore their interests in the field of aerospace by learning and applying industry-relevant skills, concepts, and techniques.
As a part of the NASA University Student Launch Initiative, Rogue Aerospace is dedicated to providing students at NYU with the chance to gain experience in the aerospace field. Our purpose as a team is to give students opportunities for hands-on learning, networking, and peer-mentorship. Our competition team simulates a real-life design, build, and launch process, making it a valuable avenue for students to hone their skills and find out how they want to contribute to the aerospace industry in the future. Rogue Aerospace works to open up members to brighter job and internship opportunities through active participation.
Rogue Aerospace is the 2021 1st Place Design Division Winner of the NASA University Student Launch Initiative, the 2022 2nd Place Design Division Winner of the NASA University Student Launch Initiative, as well as the recipient of the AIAA Vehicle Design Award, two Project Review Awards, and the Rookie Award.
Rogue Aerospace offers a multitude of avenues for students to expand their skills. Working alongside the NASA Competition is the Operations Team, which is tasked with sponsorship outreach, community engagement, social media, university affairs, report editing, and day-to-day organization. We also offer funding for students pursuing HPR certification, for which they must design, build, launch, and safely recover their own rockets. For underclassmen and non-members, we run workshops that teach the fundamentals of rocketry to inspire interest in the field, or even join our NASA Team in the future.
Rogue Aerospace is an organization powered by some of the most driven young minds the industry has to offer. In order to continue our mission of supplying our members with valuable, hands-on instruction, we need access to materials, software, travel, and other discretionary funding that is difficult to secure without your help. Donations made toward the team will allow us more flexibility in endeavors like traveling to our NASA Competition launch in Alabama, expanding our training workshops to more incoming underclassmen, monthly test launches, the development of a ground station that will aid us in our competition goals, and offering HPR certification support to any student that wishes to pursue it. All of these ventures are in the hopes of growing and sharing the wealth of knowledge we have accumulated with even more students, and bringing home some more trophies while we do so.
