Human Trafficking (2018)

Courtney's House was founded in 2008 by Tina Frundt in Washington D.C. Tina and her organization have helped more than 500 survivors escape from being trafficked and find a new life. At Courtney's House every survivor of sex trafficking can receive survivor-focused, trauma-informed, holistic services. Staff survivors help these youth find and recover their own voices, thus enabling them to pass on their own keys to success. Recovery is an all-encompasing journey from proper need assessment, intense individual and group therapy and counseling, parental support, and an overall determination on the part of the survivor towards a hopeful future.

Courtney's House also spends every Friday and Saturday night on the streets to reach out to suspecting victims. We target specific areas where girls, boys, and women are trafficked or at high risk of being trafficked. We hand out unassuming items that carry the Survivor Hotline phone number on them to provide a way for the victims to contact us when they need to.

This spring, our Alternative Breaks trip will be working with Courtney's House to support their services and advocacy. Our work will be focused on beautification of the safe house, including spring cleaning, painting a mural, and other renovations. We will also be assisting with meal preparations. Please donate to support our trip so we can continue to learn about human trafficking and other social issues in the Washington D.C. area. Thank you!
