Our course, Living in French in North America discusses the past and present status of French and French speakers in New England and Canada. As with all ASB courses, an important aspect of our learning involves service. For us, that will mean traveling to Maine and documenting oral history with francophone communities(primarily in Lewiston and Orono) as well as facilitating a francophone Children's Festival celebrating the revival of French in these communities thanks to recent waves of immigrants coming from French speaking western African countries. After Maine, we'll be Canada-bound to volunteer in a cuisine populaire(soup kitchen) in Victoriaville. We are really excited for break and in order to fund our trip, we're reaching out in search of donations. Our goal is to raise $1,200! Can you help us get there? Merci!
