Although the global pandemic has temporarily suspended our students’ ability to travel, it has reminded us of the enduring need and continuing demand for global education. As soon as it is safe to do so, the NYU School of Professional Studies (SPS) fully intends to reconnect its students with the world through its Global Field Intensive (GFI) programs, which are short-term in-person global courses designed for students whose academic, personal, and professional schedules may not allow for a full semester or summer away. These global programs expand students’ networks and knowledge outside of New York City and give them a competitive edge when entering (or re-entering) the globalized job market.
Consistent with the University’s commitment to strengthening diversity throughout the entire NYU community, SPS is launching a fundraiser to provide GFI scholarships to deserving students with strong academic performance, financial need, and diverse perspectives and backgrounds. The NYU experience is strengthened by ensuring that global programs adequately represent the diverse populations that they serve, including marginalized groups and people of color. Without adequate representation of all groups, we risk missing crucial perspectives from the academic and cultural experience abroad. This scholarship fund will help to advance equity within global programming, thereby creating opportunities for all students.
Help us reach our goal of $3,000 by donating today and helping to reconnect SPS students to the world.
"This trip was really something special. Professor K was the perfect person to lead an experience like this and the SPS Alumni that orchestrated our itineraries were phenomenal. We were able to get such a close look into Abu Dhabi and Dubai's tourism board and see all of their plans, how they have executed past goals, their new goals, and technology. That was something not every college student gets to do--or anyone for that matter. Truly something special and unforgettable.” - Maya G. Kwok, Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality Class of 2022, Marketing of Tourism Destinations, GFI to the UAE
"I had countless experiences during my time at CGA, but I think one of my most memorable would be participating in the summer GFI to Tanzania! We were so fortunate to be able to spend a portion of this trip in one of the country’s largest refugee camps (Nyarugusu) in order to gain firsthand experience of humanitarian assistance in complex emergencies. To this day, I still look back on this as one of the most incredible, meaningful, and truly life-changing experiences of my life, both personally and professionally.” - Ali Avery, Center for Global Affairs, MSGA Class of 2016, GFI to Tanzania
