NYU Concrete Canoe

New York University Tandon's Concrete Canoe Team aims to teach students about design, teamwork, leadership, and provide practical, hands-on experience through the construction of a concrete canoe for the ASCE Concrete Canoe Competition. Throughout the year-long process, students are encouraged to develop creative and innovative ideas to produce the most efficient design. The team starts with brainstorming a hydrodynamic structural design of the hull. Then, the team moves onto creating the concrete mix and mold to cast the canoe. The competition challenges students to develop inventive and sustainable solutions that can be applied to the civil engineering industry.

This past competition year, NYU Tandon Concrete Canoe placed fifth overall at the national competition - the highest in the team's history. The team also received third place for the Technical Proposal and first for the Final Product Prototype. Equipped with the successes and experiences of previous years, our team is looking forward to challenging ourselves even more. 

The NYU Concrete Canoe team is raising funds to help with the costs of competition such as transportation, meals, and team gear. As the team grows, the hope is to bring along additional members so they can experience the competition themselves and gain the confidence needed to lead future teams.
