Sonia M. Ospina is a Professor of Public Management and Policy at the NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, a sociologist by training, and an expert in qualitative research. Her interests in the participatory, inclusive and collaborative dynamics of democratic governance have produced research on social change leadership, social innovation, and public accountability, both in the United States and in Latin America.
In honor of Professor Ospina’s retirement after 34 years of dedicated service, we are raising funds for scholarships for Wagner students who are interested in social change leadership. Recipients will have values of inclusion and social justice and use the approach of connecting theory, research, and practice to better inform social change leadership work.
Recipients would also have a proven record of engagement in social change leadership work (eg. in a movement, a social change organization, a social innovation intervention around equity or in government work around community engagement and mobilization). Without support from this scholarship, it would be unlikely that they would earn a public service graduate degree.
