We are a team of hard-headed Engineers working towards the Design, Prototype and Fabricating NYU's own Bipedal robot. We have developed Multiple prototypes until now and are set on a mission to develop a full-scale bipedal robot that can climb stairs and more in an environment intelligently for the Applied Dynamics and Optimization Laboratory. The Robot would stay in the Lab for years to come for research purposes.
With project STEP, we're breaking new ground in robotics by exploring innovative mechanisms and cutting-edge algorithms to mimic human-like behavior in robots. At NYU, we're tackling challenges that even industry experts find daunting.
Our current focus is on designing the robot body and algorithms to achieve whole-body locomotion, akin to how humans learn to walk with support. We're building multiple prototypes, test rigs, and state-of-the-art control architectures to achieve this goal.
Given the lack of open-source materials in this emerging field, we're conducting research on how each joint structure behaves under various forces and movements. Our aim is to design joint structures that enable human-like walking and develop instructions to balance and move the structure forward simultaneously. This is a unique opportunity for us to make a significant impact, and we invite you to join us in making NYU a leader in future robotics.
Your Contributions will go straight into buying the physical hardware required in order to machine, fabricate, design and development of the robot.
