Many public education systems do not offer high quality ESL (English as a Second Language) classes. Speaking English is a life-changing skill for people in non-English speaking countries, because it opens both academic and professional opportunities. Most middle and upper class students learn English at private language centers, which unfortunately are too expensive or out of reach for a large part of the population. This alternative break trip aims to empower students by educating them about the importance of education in youth development.
The trip will occur during winter recess from January 7th-13th. As a part of a volunteer service group, participants will have the opportunity to work in various educational settings and aid in creating lesson plans, teaching classes, one-on-one tutoring, and organizing educational games and activities.
Participants for this alternative break trip will work hard, be selfless and help those who are in need. If you are interested in showing your dedication towards service and giving back, please donate. Your help will be infinitely appreciated.
